Staffroom & Toilet Extension
Every Project Counts were contracted to carry out an extensive demolition of the existing staffroom and toilets to create an exciting new staff area.
Working collaboratively with the client Every Project Counts was able to create a space that fulfilled the school’s needs, fitting the design brief and creating not only a functional but also aesthetically pleasing areas.
The new area provided the staff with a new modern kitchen with Karndean flooring, bespoke quartz worktop, new integrated appliances, a hot and chilled tap and a colourful sprayed glass splash back.
As the new staff and children’s toilets were to be unisex, we used full height SGL cubicles to comply with the regulations. The toilets had bespoke-made wash troughs/vanity units and were completed with beautiful chameleon high gloss coloured hygienic wall cladding.
Conversion of School House
The project involved the conversion of an existing dilapidated Victorian Schoolhouse within the School grounds to become a suite of offices with kitchen facilities and staff toilets. The interiors were completely stripped out and the work that followed included – Damp remedial works, plastering, re wiring, new plumbing and heating, new Q mark Fire Doors, new kitchen, lighting and power, carpet and vinyl flooring, complete decoration throughout, provision of new data and fire alarm.
The works were carried out under the CDM regulations 2015 with a full health and safety plan and H&S file provided to the client. No accidents or near misses. Government guidelines were followed concerning Covid-19 measures. The project was finished to an extremely high standard, on budget and programme. All operatives had DBS checks as the school was occupied.
This challenging project involved the removal of asbestos ceiling tiles, the demolition of an existing partition wall between the men's and women’s toilets and the introduction of steel beams to support the roof above. The floor area was levelled throughout and a new tiled floor was installed. Because of the sensitive nature of installing unisex toilets, it was decided to install full-height cubicles and partitions along with soundproofing. Additionally, we added a disabled/ambulant toilet to comply with current regulations.
Our design team worked with the head teacher to create the final high-quality design, fixtures and fittings.
The final result fulfilled the brief of being high quality ‘corporate feel’ and was greatly appreciated by the staff.
The new resource area began in early 2020.
During the demolition phase of the project, the Covid 19 pandemic hit the UK and the majority of the country was in lockdown.
Every Project Counts was asked by the education authority to continue the work with appropriate safeguarding measures.
Our staff and operatives were consulted and everyone agreed to continue.
The project involved the infill of an existing swimming pool new BMS system, new roofing, skylights soft play area and the total refurbishment of a large area of the school.
A very complicated project was completed to an extremely high standard on time and budget even with the challenges Covid presented.
When the finished project was inspected by the London Borough of Newhams Principle Surveyor Ralph Barkway his comment was, 'what you have achieved here is nothing short of amazing’.
The excavation of the playground and new disabled access ramp took place over the summer holiday of 2022. The work was carefully planned so as not to disturb the cyclical repairs taking place at this time and to avoid clubs that were also scheduled in and around the playground.
Our team created a secure area and a logistics plan that was strictly adhered to thus enabling plant and machinery to be on-site and for the movement and delivery of heavy transport and equipment.
It was also very important not to disturb the surrounding residents during this holiday period and so our project manager held meetings and posted letters to residents and the community to describe the works and the potential impact.
This type of consideration was much appreciated by all stakeholders and the community and the project was completed within the programme ready for the children to return in September.
Brick Restoration, New Windows, Stonework & Guttering
Every Project Counts were contracted by the London Borough of Newham to carry out the extensive repairs and restoration of the exterior of Ranelagh School including new double-glazed windows, stonework, tuck pointing and gutter repairs.
Because of the size of the project, it was programmed to commence at the beginning of the summer holidays and extend into term time up until December.
The whole southern flank of the school was scaffolded and then we commenced with the stonework repairs. This involved new stone cappings and plinths alongside decorative cornices.
Following the making good and replacement bricks the brickwork was cleaned with the specialist Doff System. The scaffold was then adjusted and the window installation commenced. This phase was carried out during term time and to accommodate the learning environment we introduced a phased installation of two classrooms at a time.
The whole project was completed within the submitted programme and to the original budget. The stakeholders were thrilled with the end result as was the team at the London Borough of Newham.
We produced the design and drawings for the proposed new food tech room for approval by the client. The works consisted of Complete removal of all existing finishes, flooring sinks, ovens desks, electric lighting, power and plumbing. The new works consisted of plastering, re wire, new plumbing supply pipe work, new compact laminate work stations, LED lighting, fire doors, hygienic cladding to walls, storage units, painting and decoration. Fully CDM compliant and carried out by our DBS checked operatives, the project was completed on time, budget and extremely high standard with all necessary certifications (NICEIC, Gas Safe etc).
The works involved new non slip vinyl, tiling to walls, new compact laminate cubicles and vanity units were installed alongside new sanitary ware, lighting and ceilings.
The school very short timescale for the work to be carried out. The boys’ toilet was stripped out, refitted and completed in just two weeks. To enable this, the works had to be extensively planned and meticulously monitored, utilising weekends and out-of-hours working.
The principle surveyor and the head teacher were extremely pleased with the end result and the dedication of the whole team.
